This is a Colt Series 70 Lightweight Commander semi-automatic pistol in .45 ACP. Serial number-CLW023740. This pistol is in great condition and comes with a leather Bianchi holster, Pachmayr grips, and 1 magazine. After running a serial number lookup, we've determined this pistol was manufactured in 1975. Other features include an alloy frame, target sights, an enlarged slide release and thumb safety, a custom extended beavertail, polished feedramps, a 3.5 lb trigger pull, and a custom magwell. Colt made a Commander version of its 1911A1 pistol starting in 1950 with a lightweight alloy frame and a 4 ΒΌ" barrel, but changed its name to Lightweight Commander in 1970 to distinguish it from the newly introduced all steel Combat Commander. The shorter barrel and alloy frame make this pistol more suited to regular carry than the full-size Government model while using the same magazine and having the same grip for familiarity.
